Mobile printers make huge savings for housing association
Together Housing is one of the biggest housing associations in the north of England. It owns or manages more than 38,000 homes across Yorkshire and Lancashire. Like all landlords, it has a legal obligation to inspect all the gas appliances in its homes every year to ensure that they are safe. Its team of 45 qualified engineers visit every property annually in a rolling programme of inspections, and then issue each home with a CP12 gas safety certificate.
Inefficient and expensive safety certificate process transformed
Previously, Together Housing’s engineers would input the results of their inspection into a template on a smartphone, which would then be sent digitally back to head office, where it would be printed out, checked by a manager for any mistakes, put in an envelope and posted to the householder. The process was time consuming, expensive and inefficient, so property manager (gas) Bill Atkins challenged a trusted Brother reseller partner to find an alternative solution.
Time and cost savings make an immediate impact
All 45 engineers were each issued with a Brother PJ-773 mobile printer, which meant they could wirelessly print out the CP12 certificate on location immediately after their inspection, handing it straight to the householder in a matter of minutes. After a successful two-month trial, the printers have now been rolled out across the inspection team and have instantly started generating substantial cost and time savings for Together Housing – freeing up money that can be redeployed to improve front line services.
